Prophethood
|
|
Muhammad's claim to Prophethood was challenged. If he was a true claimant then the belief in Jesus' Sonship with God becomes questionable. How? To Christians, God's Son can succeed His servants but no servant can succeed His Son. Thus Prophethood was done away with prior to the advent of God's Son. Islam posed a threat to the Christian doctrine of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost. On this note, until now, Christians cannot believe Muhammad as God's prophet in as much as no one dare disqualify his apostleship.

Let the truth be tested by a prayer contest
|
Ch. 3: 59 convinced the deputation that Jesus was not born without a father nor was Mary impregnated other than by a husband.They did not press on further, had they, the name of Jesus' father would have surfaced there and then. They backed off for fear that the exposure would have had humiliating consequences. Better to bow out defeated than to wager with their faith. They declined the ' mubahala' and opted to pay jizya.
