BACKGROUND, Religous Precepts
Jesus, Son of Mary and John

ISLAM
Status
CHRISTIANITY
Islam is not the life and teachings of Muhammad. As a religion, its basic tenets demand unreserved belief in and acceptance of all the prophets of God without any discrimination, so too regarding all revealed Scriptures. An incorporation of all of God's revealed books and prophets denoting the Unity of God and Brotherhood of Mankind. Islam, is original and independent. Allah is its Source, Support and Guardian. Muhammad is not the author of the Qur'an, Allah is! Wholly and solely.

The life and teachings of Christ is the hub around which Christianity orbits, but as a religion it is not inseparable from Judaism. It owes its origin to and is dependent for its existence on the same roots that constitute the religion of the Jews.

Scriptures: The Old as well as the New Testament are manuscripts of named authors. The name of Jesus is not listed among them.

Christians and Muslims are at one in their belief in and acceptance of the Biblical chain of prophets linked from Adam to John the Baptist.
Books
Qur'an
1. A singular Book
2. A singular Author
3. He is Allah
Bible
1. A collection of 66 Books
2. A plurality of authors
3. All were men
Muslims may argue that the current Bible is not the Word of God. But Christians believe it is. Many believe that some of the books composing the Bible were at least 'Inspired by God'. Likewise, Christians may argue that the Qur'an is not the Word of God, but Muslims believe it is. In fact, The Quran has no claim of Authorship by any human and challenged Humans to produce a chapter like it (Quran 2:23).
Difference in Beliefs
Muslims believe that Jesus was only a

"Servant of God"

Christians believe that Jesus was the

"Son of God"

COMMENT

"For all the prophets and the law prophesized until John" (Matt. 11:13)

Christians, taking their cue from "The parable of the wicked husbandmen" (Matthew 21:33) hold that God sent prophets one after another from Adam unto John the Baptist as His servants. These servants were rejected one by one , all of them. So, God, last of all, sent His Son - His one and only begotten Son - unto the world. Hence the closure to revelation and Prophethood forever thereafter.

ADVENT OF MUHAMMAD

Were that so, why Muhammad? 600 years after Christ, Muhammad appeared on the scene and declared that he was a prophet like the prophets that preceded him. Further he was a prophet unto all mankind. And Muhammad's Prophethood, though being ignored as an obstruction, cannot be rejected. Christians dare not disqualify him, even though they may aspire to do so. Islam is a power. Tested and proven. Acknowledged and acclaimed universally.

QUESTION MARK:

Having terminated prophet-hood, then after having sent His one and only begotten Son how can reason explain why God reverted to His old order by sending Muhammad? The nature of such inconsistency is not attributable to the wisdom and principle of God! The Sonship of Jesus to God becomes questionable not the Prophethood of Muhammad. That the Qur'an is a scripture of Divine origin is undeniable.

ROOT CAUSE OF THE DIFFERENCE:

The birth and status of Jesus is therefore the bone of contention in the disagreement existing between the Jews and the Christians on the one hand and the Christians and the Muslims on the other hand.
