| Jesus, Son of Mary and John |

Delving deeper and taking a closer look at what is written:

|
Qur'an (5:75)
|
| " The Messiah, son of Mary was no more than a messenger; many were the Messengers that passed away before him. His mother was a woman of truth (Ummuhu Siddeeqatun). They had both to eat their (daily) food. See how Allah doth makes His Signs clear to them; yet see in what ways they are deluded away from the truth!" |

Commentary # 375 by A. Yusuf Ali:
|
"Now we begin the story of Jesus. As a prelude we have the birth of Mary and the parallel story of John the Baptist, Yahya the son of Zakariya. Important Words to Consider:
| a. |
Referring to Mary as "a woman", why the Quran applied to her the term "Ummuhu Siddeeqatun?" |
| b. |
Why was it habitual of Jesus to call his mother "woman" and not "mother". |
|
[Note: Jesus never addressed her as "Holy Mary Mother of god"] |
From Point 'b' above, it could be derived that:
| 1. |
Jesus was a human being. |
| 2. |
So, in every respect - in form, in appearance and by nature. |
| 3. |
And so too, his mother Mary. |
| 4. |
Both were subject to the laws of nature. |
| 5. |
Mary was from a spiritual ancestry but all were mortals. |
