The Jewish Messiah and the Descendant of David:

This was the Kingly branch of the 12 tribes of Israel, the blood line of king David and Solomon.

Prophesies abound that the Messiah will arise from this tribe. The Messiah will be a 'JEW.'

Zachariah.

His Lineage: "There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth." (Luke 1:)

A Point To Note: Zachariah was a full-blooded Jew, whereas his wife was Levite

Spirituality: "They were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless."

Parenthood: And they had no child, because that Elizabeth was barren and they both were now well stricken in years.

Mary: She was a cousin of Elizabeth. As a 'daughter of Aaron', Mary too, was a Levite.

She was not a Jew. Mary was placed under the guardianship of Zachariah to abide in the synagogue over which he was High Priest, under vows to live as a nun for the rest of her life, as was believed.

His Observances:
He was inspired by the high quality of Mary's character and how well she guarded her chastity. Also, it was to him a strange phenomenon how Mary obtained her food and her other needs as if a divine hand was attending upon her. It began dawning upon him that this maiden was destined and was being molded for a divine design.

His suspicion: Was Mary the handmaid, handpicked as mother for the Messiah?

His dilemma: But Mary was a Levite. Prophesies foretold of a Messiah of David's line!

Seed (of David) - The Greek words: Spermato, which has the implication of lineage from a man. (Matt:22:24).

The scriptures predicted that the Messiah would be from the 'Seed of David', spermatosDauid (John 7:42). The Angel announced to Mary that her child will inherit the throne of his father David. Revelations 22:16) quotes Jesus as saying 'I am the root and the offspring of David'. In Luke 1:26, the Angel said that David is his (Jesus) father. According to Acts 13

Acts 13

22. And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.

23. Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:
(Greek Acts 13:23 Toutou ho Theos apo tou spermatos kat epangelianegagen to Israel Sotera, Iesoun,)

24. When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.

25. And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think ye that I am? I am not he. But, behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.

..(Note: please read verse 26 to 33 and compare it to Romans 1:3-4 together with Psalms 2:7. It seems that the condition of being begotten was also entrusted unto David and that the condition was "according to the spirit of holiness" (Roman 1:4)

33. God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

Psalms 2:

(David speaking)

7. I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my son; this day have I begotten thee.

Romans 1:

3. Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;

4. And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

Timothy 2:

8. Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:

Review of his thoughts:

(a) Who is a righteous male Jew? No one!
(b) I and my wife are past parenthood.
(c) God will not break His promise
(d) He will not forsake Israel on account of Jewish unrighteousness.

His Supplication: God how? And who?

God's Reply: Your son, John! I will reproduce through you Yahya (life [John]) and cure your wife.

John: Coming in the power and spirit of Elias. He will prepare the way.

Zachariah: He was struck dumb that no one will know the design of God.

Time span: Mary was held in waiting until John came of 'age'.

John: He was from the Tribe of Judah of David's line and he was Elias impersonified.

Result: Jesus was born. He said he was the 'Messiah'. And he was identified a 'Jew'.

Jesus: He was from the Tribe of Judah of David's line and he was the Messiah.

Question and Clarification:

Mary was a Levite. If Jesus was not the son of John how was he a Jew and the Messiah?

God by His 'design' brought forth John of a Jewish father deemed highly righteous.

Why? John was John in blood and flesh of the lineage of David but in power and spirit he was Elias!

Why? If God had a miraculous 'act' to perform on Mary, why the involvement of Judah, David, Abijah, Zachariah, Elizabeth and John? Joseph was never involved, we can see this because his lineage is in question. Luke 3:23 says his father was Heli (Eli in Greek) while Matthews 1:16 says Jacob was his father.

Jews: They rejected Jesus as the Messiah because they did not know he was of Davidic descent, nor Elias nor the son of John their Prophet and grandson of Zacharias, their High Priest. And they live with the guilt of having believed they shed the blood of all three, Zacharias, John and Jesus. They are unaware that God saved the lives of all three.

Tribe of Judah: God's pardon is open upon your acceptance of:

John as Elias and Jesus as the Messiah!

Jesus: (a) They killed him not nor crucified him. He was made to appear to them as such. Qur'an: 4:157 (b) They planned; Allah also planned; and Allah s the best of planners . 3:54

John: 'peace was on me:'

(a) 'the day I was born,' (b) 'the day that I die,' and (c) 'the day I shall be raised up to life again.' 19:33
