Muhammad's advent was foretold both in the Old and New Testaments.
Deuteronomy 18:18 "I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him."
Transliterated, Unaccented
Deuteronomy 18:18 Nabiy' 'aqiym lahem miqereb 'cheyhem kamowka. Wnatatiydbaray bpiyw. Wdiber 'leyhem 'et kal- 'sher 'atsawenuw.
Muhammad was an unlettered man and the Qur'an is the words put in his mouth by God as is stated in Deut. 18:18. He could not write the book nor could he read it. Everything contained in the Qur'an is from God, the Almighty.
In John 16:12, Jesus says "I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth.'
Certainly, Jesus is expecting someone to come after him to add to his teachings and to 'guide you into all truth'. The question here is 'Why do so many believe in the sonship and the finality it represents in the death of Jesus if there is one to come after him to guide to the truth?
Many, at the time of Jesus, knew of the prophecy that surrounds the advent of the Messiah and special prophets. "And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed., I am not the Christ. And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No. And they asked him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not (a) that Christ, (b) nor Elias, (c) neither that prophet?" John 1:19-25
Question: John was Elias, Jesus was the Messiah (Christ). If Muhammad was not that prophet, then who is?
Jesus, after upbraiding the Jewish Clergy for their iniquities, he ended on this warning: "Behold, your house is left unto you desolate, For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord." (Matt.23:38)
