The Baptism:
"And Jesus when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water; and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him; And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, In whom I am well pleased."
Whatever is said by readers of the Bible, there is no mention that the voice is the voice of God. God does not broadcast his messages or revelations. Messengers and prophets convey the message of God. Compare the voice at the Transfiguration. In fact, in John 1:23 John the Baptist not only states that he is the "one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias", but says "I am the voice".
St. John, Chapter 1:
"And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?
And he confessed, and denied not, but confessed, I am not the Christ.
John answered them saying, I baptize with water; but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;
He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.
The next day John seesth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me, for he was before me."
[Whatever analysis is done to decipher the words as to who was before whom, who is preferred before whom and who comes after whom, it is a matter of conjecture and belief. Let those who believe that Jesus existed physically, before he was born, prove that Jesus or Emanuel did exist before. The Messiah existed, not a physical being, but a Word or Promise from God that He will send such a person.
John's words "he must Increase and I must Decrease" indicated that John's stature was significantly high, but it is Jesus who is charged with the responsibility of being the Messiah to unite the tribes of Israel.
For those who call themselves Jehova's Witnesses, you who claim to know the name of God: Where in the Bible is written that Jesus said that Jehova is his father? Where is it written that Jehova said that Jesus is Jehova's son.]
St. John, Chapter 3:
"John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.
Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.
He that hath the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bride-groom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice; this my joy therefore is fulfilled.
He must increase, but I must decrease.
The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand."
These are John's confession Biblically scripted. The words of John constitute unequivocally, admission on the part of John that Jesus was the legitimate
