The Messiah, Qur'an 4:171

Arabic (4:171)
Transliteration 171. YAA 'AHL AL- KITAAB LAA TAGHLO FE DEN -KUM WA- LAA TAQOLO cALAA 'ALLAAH 'ILLAA AL- H.AQQ 'INNA-MAA AL- MASEH. cESAA IBN MARYAM RASOL 'ALLAAH WA- KALIMAH -HU ALQAA -HAA 'ILAA MARYAM WA- ROH. Yusuf Ali 171. O people of the Book! commit no excesses in your religion: nor say of Allah aught but truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) an Apostle of Allah and His Word which He bestowed on Mary and a Spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His Apostles. Say not "Trinity": desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is One Allah: glory be to him: (for Exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.
Pickthall 171. O People of the Scripture! Do not exaggerate in your religion nor utter aught concerning Allah save the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and His word which He conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers, and say not "Three". Cease! (it is) better for you! Allah is only One God. Far is it removed from His transcendent majesty that he should have a son. His is all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allah is sufficient as Defender.
Shakir 171. O followers of the Book! do not exceed the limits in your religion, and do not speak (lies) against Allah, but (speak) the truth; the Messiah, Isa son of Marium is only an apostle of Allah and His Word which He communicated to Marium and a spirit from Him; believe therefore in Allah and His apostles, and say not, Three. Desist, it is better for you; Allah is only one God; far be It from His glory that He should have a son, whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is His, and Allah is sufficient for a Protector.
Comments Say of Allah aught but truth
The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah

Say not three, Desist, it is better for you
Allah is only ONE
Far be It from His glory that He should have a son.

Allah is sufficient as a Wakeel - entrust, in charge, empower, trustee, attorney, Defender, Protector.

The Power of One Verse:

This one verse clears Allah, absolutely, of the false charge by Christians and Muslims. The one by ascribing a Son to Him, mortalizing God and Divinizing a mortal. And the other by imputing that the 'breath of Allah' impregnated Mary. And this is the objective of this Documentation being presented. The concept of the 'Kalima' La-illaha ill Allahhu, Muhammad -ur Rasool Allah (There is no deity but Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, is thereby vindicated, viz.

1.

The monotheistic belief that Allah is One - not only singular in Person, but as well, He is One in His Word and One in His Work and there can be no incongruity one with the other.

2.

The Holy Quran is the Message of Allah. The Qur'an validating the Oneness of Allah and the authenticity of Muhammad's Messengership.

Qur'an 5: 116-117:

" And when Allah will say, 'O Jesus, son of Mary, dids't thou say to men 'take me and my mother for two gods besides Allah?' He will answer 'Holy art thou, I could never say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, Thou wouldst have surely known it. Thou knowest what is in my mind, and I know not what is in Thy mind. It is thou alone who art the knower of all hidden things. I said nothing to them except that which Thou didst commanded me- worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them but when thou caused me to die, thou hast been the watcher over them, and Thou art Witness over all things'.

Commentary #811 by Bashir Ahmad:

Verse 116 refers to the practice of the Christian Church to ascribe Divine powers to Mary. Mary's help is invoked in Litany; and in Catechism of the Roman Church the doctrine that she is the mother of God, is inculcated. Church Fathers in the past have regarded her as Divine and only a few years ago Pope Pius XII incorporated the bodily ascension of Mary in the doctrine of the church. All this amounts to raising her to the pedestal of Divinity and this is what Protestants denounce as Maryology.

A comment on Fatawaffa (Die or Taken)

Note: The word TAWAFFAYTA -NE is used here and not Mawt. The word Mawt meand death as in Maalikil Mawt (The angel of death). The word Tawaffa is used in 2:234 to mean 'die'. It is also used in a common Duwa' for the dead "Allah hu maghfirlee hayyinaa wa mayatinaa ... wa man tawaffaitahu minna fatawaffahu 'alal Imaan - and those of us You cause to die, cause us to die in faith."

Other Quranic References: 2:240;

Verse Meaning Context
2:234 die Those who die and leave behind widows ...
2:240 Die
3:55 taken and raised The words MUTAWAFFE -KA WA- RAAFIc -KA are used here to Allah. This verse is significant in understanding that Jesus will not return.
3:193 die let us die in the company of the righteous
4:15 death Women accused of lewdness confined until death...
4:97 die Angels take the souls of those who die.
5:116-117 take When you took me (cause me to die)...
6:60 take YATAWAFFAA -KUM BI- AL- LAYL He takes you at night and has knowledge of what you do by day.
6:61 take AL- MAWT TAWAFFAT -HU, The angel will take you at death. Both words representing death, or being taken, are mentioned here.

A comment on RAAFIc (Elevate or raise up)

Verse 3:55 is an important verse that should be delved into. Most Muslims interpret this verse to mean that Jesus was taken bodily to Heaven and is not dead and that someday he will return in the so called Second Coming (see also verse 4:158). This is an affirmation of the Christian belief. If Jesus was to return, then verse 5:116-117 would be meaningless since the incident about which Allah will speak about has already passed and Allah Will address Esa (Jesus) in the future. If Esa was to come again, then he would have a chance to correct this situation. It is not our intention here to prove whether or not Jesus will comeback, but we believe that all the ayats in the Qur'an are true and that there in no incongruity in Allah's revelation.

Many Muslims believe that the Messenger of Allah, Muhammad, saw Jesus in the heavens on his journey during Israa wal Meraj. They also believe that Muhammad is the last Messenger. If Allah Called Jesus a Messenger in 4:171, then, would that status change from being a messenger, if Jesus was to come again?

AL- MASEH. cESAA IBN MARYAM RASOL 'ALLAAH

Esa (Jesus) is given a title of Al Masseh (The Messiah), by Allah in this Ayat. In 3:45, Allah says that his name is Al Maseh, Esa Ibn Mariam. In 4:157, Allah says that they slew not Al Maseh, Esa Ibn Mariam, nor did they crucify him. In 5:72, Allah says " They surely disbelieve who say : Lo! Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary. The Messiah (himself) said : O Children of Israel, worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. ..." Verse 5:75 states " The Messiah, son of Mary, was no other than a messenger, messengers (the like of whom) had passed away before him. And his mother was a saintly woman. And they both used to eat (earthly) food. See how we make the revelations clear for them, and see how they are turned away!". Verse 9:30 states " And the Jews say:. Ezra is the son of Allah, and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah. That is their saying with their mouths. They imitate the saying of those who disbelieved of old. Allah (himself) fighteth against them. How perverse are they!". Verse 9:31 continues the argument " They have taken as lords beside Allah their rabbis and their monks and the Messiah son of Mary, when they were bidden to worship only One God. There is no god save Him. Be He glorified from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)!".

Whether Messiahs are of a different class than Rasool and Nabi (Messengers and Informers/Prophets) is a matter for debate. Is there an expectation of Messiahs to come? In the 17th century, Shabbatai Tzvi, a man of Jewish origin, claimed to be the moshiach (Messiah); another person was Shimeon ben Kosiba, known as Bar Kochba. In the late 19th century, a Muslim man living in India, named Mirza Gulam Ahmad, claimed to be the Promised Messiah and a mujadid (reformer). Certainly there has been many claims of Messiahship, and many are still awaiting the coming of the Messiah. The Jews are still awaiting the Moshiach, the original word for 'anointed one', and have madeup a list of qualifications for this Moshiach. Among the various qualifications of the Jewish Messiah, Moshiach ben Dovid, are as they claim:

Expectation of the Messiah Reference Fulfillment
Direct Descendant of David and Jesse -Isaiah 11:1; Jeremiah 23:5 Such is the case of these presentations, John the Baptist, the son of Zachariah, a direct descendant of David. Some are looking for Moshiach ben David or a Moshiach ben Yosef (Yusuf).
Through the family of Solomon, David's son -1 Chronicles 22:9-l0; Isaiah 7:13 Moshiach ben Dovid is Jesus, son of John (Yahya / Yuhannah), Son of Zachariah of the House of David of the House of Jacob. See these presentation for details.
He will cause all the world to serve God together -Isaiah 11:2 See Qur'an 9:31 " They have taken as lords beside Allah their rabbis and their monks and the Messiah son of Mary, when they were bidden to worship only One God. There is no god save Him. Be He glorified from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)!".
Unite the Tribes (12) of Israel, of the sons of Jacob and Isaac. . Being a descendant of Zachariah and Elizabeth (of the daughter of Aaron) and John (Yahya) and Mary from the family of Amraan (Imran) caused a unification of the twelve tribes of the sons of Jacob. From the priestly (Levites) and the Kingly (Jesse and David and Solomon of the tribe of Judah) tribes. The Qur'an conforms this in Chapter 6 Verses 84 and 85:
84. And We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob; each of them We guided; and Noah did We guide aforetime; and of his seed (We guided) David and Solomon and Job and Joseph and Moses and Aaron. Thus do We reward the good.
85. And Zachariah and John and Jesus and Elias. Each one (of them) was of the righteous.
Comes with Burnt Offerings Lev 1:9; Deut 33:10 A Belief of the Jews of reving and Israelite Law. This is confounded by the Qur'an in chapter 3 verses 183 and 184:
183. (The same are) those who say: Lo! Allah hath charged us that we believe not in any messenger until he bring us an offering which fire shall devour (Burnt Offerings). Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Messengers came unto you before me with miracles, and with that (very miracle) which ye describe. Why then did ye slay them? (Answer that) if ye are truthful.
184. And if they deny thee, even so did they deny messengers who were before thee, who came with miracles and with the Psalms and with the Scripture giving light.
Establishing the Oneness of God. . See above (Qur'an 5: 116-117) and 4:171.
Elias/ Elijah must come before Mishneh Torah, the Laws of Kings, chapter 12:2; John the Baptist was Elias in Power and Spirit Luke 1:17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias

John Is Elias Matt 11:14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. Matt 17:10 Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come? 17:11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.7:12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already ... 7:13 Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist. See also Part 03 Page on Elias.

Belief in the coming of Moshiach is a fundamental principle of Judaism.

Maimonides's 13 Principles of Faith The fact that this believed to be true then the logical conclusion is that if the messiah ever comes, then that would be the end of Judaism. Since it is a constant hope for the coming of the Messiah, then no Messiah will be ever accepted by those who follow Judaism.
Moshiach is a human being. Maimonides, Laws of Kings, ch. 11 Qur'an 3:59, See Explanation on 3:59
Wisdom, and Knowledge of Torah. . Quran 3:48. And He will teach him the Scripture and wisdom, and the Torah and the Gospel.
Potential,
Presumptive, and
Confirmed Messiah
Jewish literature Potential - Always Exist
Presumptive - David's Lineage and adhere to Jewish Laws
Confirmed - Whose confirmation is it anyway. The Christians and Muslims says that Jesus was the Messiah, The Jews says NO. He was an imposter, a fake. Allah calls Esa Ibn Mariam the messiah in Qur'an 4:171.
He must rebuild the Temple . Did not God promise the Children of Israel to settle them in the Holy Land after they came out of Egypt? Moses only saw the land because the Children of Israel disobeyed God and they wer forbidden from it. Likewise, if they would kill the Messiah, why should the Temple be built if the Messiah himself could not worship in it?
Who's God is it anyway? . Is He the God only of Israel or Rabbul 'Allameen (Lord of the Universe)?

The Real prediction of the Messiah comes in Psalms 2, and the answer will shock you as to why they rejected the Anointed One.

Judaism:

Jews reject Jesus by their 'Faith', but they cannot disprove worldwide acclamation of his Messiahship. Unless and until they accept him they can in no other way have a 'nationhood of peace'.

Christianity:

Christians reject Muhammad by their 'religion', but by reason and intellect they cannot disprove mankind's unanimous acknowledgement that Muhammad is duly a validated Messenger of Allah and the Quran an authenticated Scripture of Divine origin.

Islam:

Muslims deify the doctrine of 'virgin birth' but they cannot disprove the fact that Muhammad in his 'debate' with the Najran Deputation proved by Qur'anic revelation that Jesus had a father and alluded to his identification. They mix-up the truth with falsehood.

Atheistism & Communism:

They reject God but they cannot disprove His existence. Let them explain the births of Mary, John and Jesus?

Scientists:

They depend upon the principle of cause and effect. As proven, that's a reliable 'god' to worship. But the birth of Jesus is, to now, yet unaccountable and unexplainable by them. So, too, the civilization ushered in by Muhammad's influence on mankind.

Muslims:

Verse 6:101 is an emphatic statement by Allah that He cannot have a son. Why? Because He is consortless. Muslims swear that Jesus was born to Mary fatherless. Computerize this and the screen will read "Mary is God and Jesus - God's equal in divinity." Verse 5:118 condemned Christians? Or Christians and Muslims?

Qur'an 6:101. The Originator of the heavens and the earth! How can He have a child, when there is for Him no consort (Sahibah), when He created all things and is Aware of all things?

Quran 5:118. If Thou punish them, lo! they are Thy slaves, and if Thou forgive them (lo! they are Thy slaves). Lo! Thou, only Thou art the Mighty, the Wise.

J E S U S - the eye-sore of Jews. The Lord, thy God be praised for their crucifixion of him.
MUHAMMAD - the eye-sore of Christians. God's curse on this 'Anti-Christ'
MUSLIMS - they have incurred the wrath of God and are astray as a result of their 'fatwa of kufr' against Muhammad and those like him who declared that Jesus was not born fatherless. According to Allah's Law in the Qur'an, every man in created by Alaq by way of a Nutfah. If this Nutfah does not come from a man then who's is it? God's or Gabriel? If other than man then "BI- ISM RABB -KA 'ALLADHE KHALAQA" (96:1) and "Khalaqa hu min turaab" (3:59, created from this earth / dust) are incorrect. No wonder they are the most humiliated and degraded nation of people on earth today (the turn of the 21st Century).
