Mary's Conception, How and By Whom

The Holy Quran Chapter 19:

16. "And mention in the Book Mary when she withdrew from her people to an eastern place
17. And she took a veil apart from them; then We sent unto her Our RUHANNA that presented himself to her a man without fault.
18. She said: I take refuge in the All- Merciful from thee! If thou fearest God:
19. He said: I am but a messenger come from thy Lord, to give thee a boy most pure."

As translated by Arthur J. Arberry

Out of the above verses, Muslims are led to believe that it was Angel Gabriel, who, assuming the form of a man, appeared to Mary. Some translators interpret the word Ruhanna to mean 'angel', others to mean 'spirit'. impersonified as a man. But the word in the way is 'perfect' in the term perfect man, or 'a man without fault' (basharan sawiyya). The Arabic word for angel is 'malak'. The text is devoid of both words - malak and Gabriel.

The Nazarene Gospel:

15. "And John, the messenger of the Lord, in the likeness of the Angel Gabriel, came filled with the Holy Spirit to Jerusalem unto a Virgin named Mary, a daughter of Aaron.
16. Now it came to pass, when the virgins which braided the veil were athirst, that Mary took a pitcher and went out to fill it with water.
17. And John standing by the well, saluted her, saying: 'Hail, Mary, thou art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: Blessed art thou among women.'
18. But Mary, when she heard his words, was troubled, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be and she set down the picture.
19
And John said unto her: 'Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found favour with God. Behold, not many days shall pass and thou shalt bring forth a son and shall call his name the Branch. He shall give unto him the throne of his father David, and he shall reign over the House of Jacob until this world hath ended.'"

Out of these verses, Christians are led to believe what is the reverse of the belief of Muslims, that is, that the individual who appeared to Mary was John the Baptist, the messenger of the Lord. But not in his own physical embodiment. John appeared to Mary in the spirit and power of Angel Gabriel.

Note: This Gospel Testament is not generally circulated in mainstream Christian circles. The account is almost identical to other Gospels, with one main exception here, the being that approached Mary was reportedly to be John.

Chapter 19:16-21

Theses six verses is Allah's Testimony revealing the identity of he who was the husband of Mary and the father of Jesus. God spoke out, outright. Who would know better than Him and whose version should be believed. Look at the conflicting differences of mankind's translations. So, because the consensus of belief being that Jesus was of virgin birth, this was the focus of their thought. It was on this premise that interpretation was rendered. The comparison here given is not intended to induce belief in the Nazarene Gospel but invite study of the original Arabic text which, thank Allah, is intact.

This is a Gospel comparison.
