REVIEW OF COMPARISON
Chapter 19: 16 - 21

1. ANGELS:
Qur'an 3:42.
Look carefully at the Arabic words (In Arabic):

The Arabic words used in every instance is 'mala-i-katu'.Used in the plural number. That is angels and not an angel (a plurality of beings).

The Arabic words used here is not mala-i-katu. The word Ruhanna is used, and it is used in the singular number, masculine gender (an individual).


2. ALLAH:
The angels referred to God by His Personal name - "Allah"
Ruhanna referred to God by His Personal Attribute "Rabb"
3. I take refuge in Rahman from thee:
These words are not used here at all (refering to 3:41-46). It implies that Mary did not see any object and therefore had no cause for fear. She was spoken via revelation.





These words are present here. Mary beheld the physical presence of an object whom her physical eyes saw as a real man. This being appeared as "BASHAR(AN) SAWEY(AN)". (Bashar is the Arabic word for 'mortal', other meanings include to touch, to have sexual intercourse. Bashir - harbinger, forerunner, precursor, to herald; while Saweya means 'perfect' or 'well-proportioned'.) Fear overtook her, she being alone, hence her petition to God for refuge.
4. My Lord:
These words are present here. Proof that Mary was in communion with her Lord. To every reply, her formal address was, 'my Lord'. (Verse 3:47)

These words are completely absent. Mary spoke in a direct manner to the individual who was her equal opposite, as, mano a mano, face to face, heart to heart.
5. Glad Tidings:
PRESENT. The exact words of the angels were: 'O Mary, Allah gives thee glad-tidings of a son'. This was the prophecy - an announcement

ABSENT. There is not a word about glad-tidings or good news. The words of Ruhanna were: 'I am but a messenger come from thy Lord to give thee a boy most pure.'
6. Neither have I been unchaste:
In her revelational dialogue, Mary's singular question was: 'no man has touched me.'
Here, she added the objection: 'neither have I been unchaste.'
7. Takeeya:
Absent. Angels cannot be takeeya, not being gifted to know right from wrong, thus are unconscious of accountability.





Mary was exchanging words with a 'takeeya' - he who is conscious of the consequences of his actions. (God called John takeeya in verse 19:13, and apply the very word to His servants who will be inheritors of the garden in 19:63). Yusuf Ali in his footnote said, 'She (Mary) thought it was a man. She was frightened, and she adjured him not to invade her privacy.' Comm.# 2471
8. Basharan Sawiyyan:
Absent..




Present. Dictionary meaning: a man, mortal human being, to touch, to have sexual intercourse. Bashir - harbinger, forerunner, precursor, to herald. See footnote of Yusuf Ali # 2495 to verse 19:43 for the meaning.
9. Maqdiyya / decreed:
Qadao Amran - to be decreed (3:47)
Amran-maqdiyya - already decreed. (19:21)
