Comments Note: Zachariah's prayer is preserved and mentioned in
  • 3:38, he prayed for MIN LADUN -KA DHURREYAH T.AYYIBAH (from Thee a progeny that is pure.
  • 19:5, he prayed for MIN LADUN -KA WALEY(AN) (give me an heir as from Thyself). (Note: the word waley means to be near, or close to, like a friend is close)

Arabic
Transliteration 90. FA- ISTAJABNAA LA- -HU WA- WAHABNAA LA- -HU YAH.YAA WA- AS.LAH.NAA LA- -HU ZAWJ -HU 'INNA -HUM KAANO YUSAARIcON FE AL- KHAYRAAT WA- YADcON -NAA RAGHAB(AN) WA- RAHAB(AN) WA- KAANO LA- -NAA KHAASHIcEN
Yusuf Ali 90. So We listened to him: and We granted him Yahya: We cured his wife's (barrenness) for him. These three were ever quick in emulation in good works: they used to call on Us with love and reverence and humble themselves before Us.
Pickthall 90. Then We heard his prayer, and bestowed upon him John, and adjusted his wife (to bear a child) for him. Lo! they used to vie one with the other in good deeds, and they cried unto Us in longing and in fear, and were submissive unto Us.
Shakir 90 . So We responded to him and gave him Yahya and made his wife fit for him; surely they used to hasten, one with another In deeds of goodness and to call upon Us, hoping and fearing and they were humble before Us.
Comments Note carefully:
  • First: Allah mentioned that Yahya was granted to him.
  • Second: then it was mentioned that his wife was cured.

It seems to confirm the fact that the creation of man starts in a man. (See 86:5)

  • Ruhi: spiritual
  • JAcALNAA -HAA is never used in the Qur'an to mean "made her", Check 2:66; 10:24; 21:91; 29:15; 37:64; 56:73; 67:5. In all cases it is translated to mean "Made it". Hence Allah has made it, Ruh.i naa and Ibna Haa , a sign unto the world(ayatan lila'lameen).
