90. So We listened to him: and We granted him Yahya: We cured his wife's (barrenness) for him. These three were ever quick in emulation in good works: they used to call on Us with love and reverence and humble themselves before Us.
|
| Pickthall |
90. Then We heard his prayer, and bestowed upon him John, and adjusted his wife (to bear a child) for him. Lo! they used to vie one with the other in good deeds, and they cried unto Us in longing and in fear, and were submissive unto Us.
|
| Shakir |
90 . So We responded to him and gave him Yahya and made his wife fit for him; surely they used to hasten, one with another In deeds of goodness and to call upon Us, hoping and fearing and they were humble before Us. |
| Comments |
Note carefully:
- First: Allah mentioned that Yahya was granted to him.
- Second: then it was mentioned that his wife was cured.
It seems to confirm the fact that the creation of man starts in a man. (See 86:5)

Note the following Arabic words:
- hasuna means to fortify, to make inaccessable, (for a woman) to be chase.
- Farj (Faraj) means a split, an opening , a gap, the female vulva
- Nafkh means to fill, to blow, to breathe ,to inflate, to rouse (See Hans Wehr Disctionary page 982)
- Ruh: breath of life, soul, spirit, (See Hans Wehr Disctionary page 365), Note that the Ruh is sent down in Laillatul Qadar (Qrn. 97:4) and Allah Commands the Ruh and has given us little knowledge of it (Qrn.17:85)
- Ruhi: spiritual
- JAcALNAA -HAA is never used in the Qur'an to mean "made her", Check 2:66; 10:24; 21:91; 29:15; 37:64; 56:73; 67:5. In all cases it is translated to mean "Made it". Hence Allah has made it, Ruh.i naa and Ibna Haa , a sign unto the world(ayatan lila'lameen).
